1.2.1NOBODY REPAINTS A SIGN EVERY MINUTE

In the real world the population changes by the minute, and nobody climbs the ladder to repaint the sign. Ours did. Every minute. Every sign. All at once.

In plain terms: a performance fix -- the signs now check their town in turn, about every 10 minutes each, and round the figure like a real sign.

  • Fixed: the signs re-read their town every minute and rebuilt on every population tick, all signs in the same frame -- on a big map that was a stutter every minute
  • Now: each sign is checked about every 10 minutes, the signs taken in turn at an even pace (30 signs = one every 20 seconds), and the population is rounded like a real sign (to 10, 50 or 100)
  • Unchanged: a new sign is filled the moment you place it
  • Thanks: to thibaulthc, who found and reported it — reports like this improve the mods for everyone, so keep them coming

1.2THE LEFT-HAND DRIVERS WIN

PYT signs now left-hand too: a distance board, SEE YOU SOON and an 80 sign on the left kerb of a left-hand road

Not every sign in the picture comes with this mod — they are three separate PYT mods: PYT - Speed Signs · PYT - Distance Signs · PYT - Town Signs (this mod) — or get all three at once: PYT - Complete Road Signs Collection

OK, the left-hand drivers win — even if I am one, being in Australia. Every sign now knows which side of the road you drive on.

  • Left-hand traffic — with the Left Hand Traffic mod, WELCOME and SEE YOU SOON stand on the left-hand kerb, facing the drivers who read them
  • New setting: Traffic drives on — Auto / Right / Left. Auto follows your game (left with the Left Hand Traffic mod); Right or Left if you ever need to set it yourself — on a placed sign too
  • Always finds its town — a sign on a road that isn't joined to a town now takes the nearest town, so Both always splits into its pair across the road
  • In plain terms: the signs stand on the correct side on left-hand maps, and a Both sign no longer ends up back to back

★ Thank you, NovaOfZion and jimbo_1977! You asked for left-hand driving — here it is.

1.1.1A TALLER LADDER

Our signwriter learned Chinese, Japanese and Korean overnight, but in all the excitement he hung the population a little low. He has been given a taller ladder.

  • In plain terms: on Chinese, Japanese and Korean boards the population line (人口 131) now sits in the middle of its plate
1.1.0THE COMMITTEE HAS VOTED

The committee met and asked: why have one sign for English and another for every other language? The vote was cast and we all agreed — it belongs in one mod. So we present the Town Signs upgrade, with International built in.

  • In plain terms: the board now speaks your game's language — WILLKOMMEN IN / EINWOHNER: 423 / AUF WIEDERSEHEN in German, and the same in all 13 languages the game offers, Chinese, Japanese and Korean included
  • Playing in English? Nothing changes: the same hand-painted boards
  • Signs you have already placed switch over by themselves a few seconds after the save loads
  • The build menu is translated too
  • PYT - Town Signs International is retired: everything it did is in here now
1.0.3THE SIGN THAT MOVES HOUSE

The town grew right past our sign and nobody told it. Now it packs up and walks to the new edge of town.

  • In plain terms: A sign you put on a country road walks out to the new town edge when the town grows over its road — just past the last town street, on the right of its drivers, standing on the ground
  • Town names keep their accents — DÜSSELDORF, ZÜRICH — and long names now fit neatly on the board
  • Signs look up their town about 2 seconds after a save loads
  • Works alongside PYT - Town Signs International: a Welcome and a See you soon from either edition pair up
